Exapmles of collections are the Carl Tobey Papers, from the period (1955-1976) when he was a member of the staff of the Turkish Ministry of Education in Samsun, Turkey, teaching English. 

The John Van Antwerp MacMurray Papers describe the public and personal lives of John Van Antwerp MacMurray (1881-1960), diplomat and specialist in Far Eastern Affairs, and his father, Junius Wilson MacMurray (1843-1898).

Karl S. Twitchell Papers. Twitchell was an American mining engineer who conducted extensive surveys in the Middle East, Europe, and South America between 1915 and the 1950s. His papers document the span of his career, particularly his interest in the Middle East, and include correspondence, journals, notes, reports, writings, topical files, photographs, and maps. Personal documents and correspondence with family and associates are also contained.

    Consists mainly of correspondence and manuscripts of Tobey (Princeton Class of
    1940) from the period (1955-1976) when he was a member of the staff of the
    Turkish Ministry of Education in Samsun, Turkey, teaching English. There are 21
    binders of correspondence, photographs, and cards from various friends, family,
    and associates reflecting his interests in Turkish literature and music,
    horticulture, and the collecting of botanical specimens. Also included are

  • William Alfred Eddy Papers

    Consists of papers of Eddy (Princeton Class of 1917). Included are notes and articles (and drafts) concerning his interests in the Arabic language, 18th-century literature, and Jonathan Swift; Hobart College presidency correspondence and related scrapbooks; military documents regarding his role in planning WWII North African landings, the President Roosevelt/King Ibn Saud meeting at the Suez Canal, and the U.S. treaty with Yemen (1946); numerous addresses, some college journals, and class notebooks; and photographs of Middle East dignitaries and landscapes.

  • Owen W. and Janet K. Roberts Papers

    The Owen W. and Janet K. Roberts Papers document the Roberts' time in Cairo, the Congo and Nigeria while Owen Roberts was a member of the Foreign Service.

  • Kennett Love Papers

    Consists of correspondence, subject files, writings, tape recordings, and other material relating to the career of Love (Princeton Class of 1946) as a writer and journalist. Most of the material deals with his book Suez -- The Twice-Fought War: A History (1969).

  • Karl S. Twitchell Papers

    The Karl S. Twitchell papers contain correspondence, journals, notes, reports, writings, topical files, photographs, and maps documenting his career in mining and interest in the Middle East. The bulk of the professional documentation focuses on specific mining projects, principally in Yemen and Saudi Arabia between the late 1920s and 1950s.

  • John Van Antwerp MacMurray Papers

    Consists of public and personal papers of MacMurray (Princeton Class of 1902) and his father, Junius Wilson MacMurray (1843-1898), but the collection primarily relates to MacMurray's diplomatic career as assistant secretary of state (1924-1925), minister to China (1925-1929) and Turkey (1936-1942), chairman (1937-1938) of the Joint Preparatory Committee on Philippine Affairs, and chairman (1933-1938) of the International Wheat Advisory Committee. Included are MacMurray's correspondence and related papers concerning State Dept.

  • John and Janet Wallach Papers

    This series contains interview transcripts and background material primarily related to Mid-East conflicts (Israel, Palestine, and Egypt), including interviews with Arafat and Abu Iyad. Also contains some material on the USSR and South Korea.
