COZZENS, JAMES GOULD (1903-1979)

  • Princeton has many volumes from Cozzens's own library. (Ca. 800 as of 1957 and an additional 200 arrived in 1979.) The various titles reflect research done for his various novels. The volumes are dispersed among the many collections in the Library, both general stack and rare book.

The Library has some 75 volumes by Cozzens himself, including translations of his works into German, French, Spanish, Dutch, Italian.

Some particulars about the books in Cozzen's library are provided by Richard M. Ludwig in "A reading of the James Gould Cozzens Manuscripts" in the Princeton University Library Chronicle XIX, 1 (Autumn, 1957) pp. 1-14 [full text] .
